Google Analytics Site Search Integration with SearchBlox

Steps to set up Site Search Tracking through Google Analytics

Prerequisites

  • Google Analytics account (Universal Analytics property)
  • Admin access to your SearchBlox deployment
  1. Navigate to Google Analytics
    Sign in with your Google account
    Go to https://www.google.com/analytics/web/#home/ your analytics account in Google.

  1. When the user clicks Sign Up, they will be prompted to create a new account, as shown below:

  1. Click Get Tracking ID

  1. Accept the terms and conditions

  1. You would be redirected to the Google Analytics Admin page, where you must configure the properties for the site you want to track.

  1. Click the Admin button in the bottom-left corner to view the properties.

  1. You should now be able to view the settings and properties for the Account, Property, and View.

  1. Click View Settings of View

  1. At the bottom of the View Settings page, locate Site Search Settings.
    Enable Site Search Tracking, enter query as the query parameter, and save the settings.

  1. Navigate to Admin → Property Settings → Tracking Info → Tracking Code, then copy the Global Site Tag and embed it in your site’s index.html file.

  1. Specify the snippet in your index.html

  1. Everything is now set up. When users access your search page, you can view analytics for search terms in Google Analytics.**Reports -> Behavior -> Site Search -> Overview/Search Terms**.

  1. Please make sure to select the required time interval in the top-right corner.

Note:

Kindly note that there would a delay say an hour or so for the search terms to be updated

    Export Options:
    1. PDF (ideal for sharing)
    2. CSV (for data analysis)
    3. Google Sheets (for live collaboration)
      Saving Reports:
      Click "Save" in any report view
      Access later via:
      Left Menu > Customization > Saved Reports
      Organize with folders and naming conventions
