Introduction
SearchAI SmartFAQs automatically crawls your PDFs, web pages, and other content sources to generate context-aware questions and answers. This improves search relevance and helps users find what they need instantly — without any human assistance. It brings together information from your knowledge base, product pages, and customer portals into a single, easy-to-access location.

SmartFAQs Dashboard
The SmartFAQs dashboard in the SearchBlox Admin Console is your central place to manage all FAQs. From here you can:
- Create, edit, and delete FAQs
- Activate or deactivate FAQs
- Preview how FAQs will appear to users
- Import or export FAQs in bulk
- Filter FAQs by question or answer text
- View analytics on user engagement
Creating SmartFAQs
Before You Begin
SearchBlox Collections must exist before you create or import SmartFAQs
Creating a SmartFAQ
To create a new SmartFAQ:

Go to SearchBlox Console → SearchAI → SmartFAQs Dashboard.

Click Create New SmartFAQ or the + button.

On the creation screen, provide the following information:
- The FAQ Question
- The FAQ Answer
- The Content Source URL
- At least one Collection
- A Priority value to control the display order

As you enter information, a live preview of the SmartFAQ appears on the right side of the screen.
Once the SmartFAQ creation screen opens, enter the required details for displaying it on the search page. Add the SmartFAQ question and answer, provide the content source URL, and select at least one collection. You can also set a priority to control the display order. A preview of the SmartFAQ will appear on the right side of the screen.
Note:
- Super Admin and Admin users can create SmartFAQs, and multiple Admins can manage them.
- The Dashboard filter works based on text found in SmartFAQ questions or answers.
Import SmartFAQs
You can import multiple SmartFAQs at once using a CSV file. Download the template below, fill it in, and upload it from the dashboard. Datafile CSV Template
SmartFAQs in Search
SmartFAQs appear based on the user’s search terms. If a search term matches a SmartFAQ’s question or answer, the SmartFAQ will be shown on the search results page along with the regular search results. The display order can be customized in the Admin Console. User interactions such as impressions, opens, clicks, upvotes, and downvotes are also tracked.
Typeahead SmartFAQs
SmartFAQs also appear as suggestions while the user types a search query. When a user selects a SmartFAQ, it is displayed along with other related SmartFAQ suggestions.
Display Configuration
SmartFAQ display settings can be configured in the facet.js file. You can disable SmartFAQ suggestions or turn off the entire SmartFAQ section on the search results page.

Troubleshooting Steps

SearchBlox highlights validation or system errors so you can easily identify and fix them.

If SmartFAQs fail to be created, check the Developer Tools in your browser (Console or Network tab) to find the cause of the issue.
