SearchBlox Realm

SearchBlox Realm is a secure search method that uses SearchBlox’s built-in login system. Only authorized SearchBlox users can access the search page, providing a protected way to perform searches within SearchBlox.

Steps to Enable Secure Search for SearchBlox Realm

Secure search for SearchBlox Realm works by turning on Private Security in the Security Settings. After that, select SearchBlox Realm under Security Types to enable this secure search option.

Configure Users for SearchBlox Realm

By default, there is one Super Admin user, who can log in to Secure Search for SearchBlox. For collection-based and encrypted searches, it’s recommended to create additional users. You can refer to the Users documentation to learn about the different types of users.

Accessing Secure Search for SearchBlox Realm

You can access secure search by opening the following link or by clicking Search in the Admin dashboard. This will take you to the secure search login page:
https://localhost:8443/search/index.html

By default, you can log in using the Admin username and password. After creating new users, all user types will be able to access the search page. The search results will display collections based on the user’s role or assigned group.

User-Based Search

• The Admin role has full access and control over everything in the SearchBlox Admin console.
• The Manager role has limited or no access to the Admin console, depending on Admin permissions. A Manager with permission can only view and use the Dashboard, Collections, and Analytics sections.
• The Business User role has very limited access to the SearchBlox Admin console.

Collection-Based Search

• Collection-based search can be used only by Manager users.
• First, create several Manager users and assign each to specific groups.
• Collections created by Managers in one group can be seen and searched only by Managers in the same group.
• It is important to plan your groups and Manager users carefully before setting up collection-based search.

Features of SearchBlox Realm

• SearchBlox Realm is SearchBlox’s built-in authentication system. Users created in SearchBlox User Management can perform secure searches when SearchBlox Realm is enabled.
• Through SearchBlox Realm, different types of users can perform collection-based secure searches.
• Admin users can access all collections.
• Manager users can access collections they created or collections created by other managers in the same group.
• To give a user search-only access, you can create a special Manager user with search-only permissions.
• Encrypted content and encrypted field search can be used with SearchBlox Realm.
• Only Manager users with “sensitive access” enabled can view encrypted content.
• Users who are not Managers cannot view encrypted content.
