Deploying on Bitnami Tomcat

SearchBlox is tested for deployment on Bitnami Tomcat.

  1. Download the searchblox.war file from
  2. Drop searchblox.war into Tomcat's webapps folder and restart Tomcat.
  3. Go to http://localhost:8080/searchblox/admin/main.jsp and log in using
    username: admin
    password: admin.
  4. By default there will be an HTTP collection with the root URL You can update the root URL if required. The collection can be indexed by clicking the index button from the dashboard or Index subtab.
  5. Click on the DashBoard sub-tab under Collections to view the indexing status.
  6. By default, Searchblox runs with a free license that allows one collection only. To try another collection, you can delete the existing one and create another.
  7. Go to http://localhost:8080/searchblox/search.jsp or http://localhost:8080/searchblox/plugin/index.html to start searching.

Settings to improve performance in Tomcat

The following settings would work better for SearchBlox on Tomcat 8 using JDK 8

-server -Xms24G -Xmx24G 
-XX:PermSize=512m -XX:+UseG1GC 
-XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:ParallelGCThreads=20 
-XX:ConcGCThreads=5 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=70

Please adjust the memory based on the availability in the machine.
